Ovarium

Inspired by and utilising the writing of Barbara Ehrenreich and Deirdre English on the history of women and medicine and the LP recording Willy Albimoor and his Orchestra: Music for Intelligent Young Ladies [1963]. In the audio work, texts, spoken and sung, were collaged from the two source materials, and set alongside a short song in a narrative voice both my own and incorporating perspectives from the historical research. This was all set against live improvisation and processing of the found object (LP). The text score presents an instruction to be completed by the listener as a post-listening exercise.
